89 titles dropped on Relay this week. Here are five worth starting with.
Balance: A Perimenopause Journey
One of the monks who made this was an Army Combat Medic in Iraq before she took her vows. The other left a corporate sales career. Neither has a medical background. That's the point. They went and found the answers the healthcare system stopped asking for. Four episodes covering hormone therapy, the misinformation problem, and what it's like when doctors tell you your symptoms aren't real. 9.5 on IMDB.

- Adrien Brody, four years before The Pianist, plays a kidnapper who buries a woman alive and then engineers his own arrest. He wants to be caught. He wants to get to the detective. Maura Tierney plays her as an alcoholic cop who secretly pays a sadist to burn her with cigarettes. This is a much stranger film than the premise suggests. Went straight to video. Richard Shepard later made The Matador.

Ex-Wives of Rock
Sharise Neil (Vince Neil's ex-wife). Athena Lee (Tommy Lee's sister). Bobbi Brown (Jani Lane's ex-wife). They had the name, the story, the connection. What they didn't have was a stage. This show is them getting one. Fuse, 2012. The music is real and that matters. Two seasons. Better than the premise has any right to be.

Politics Is a Mother: Raising Hell Is Part of the Job
Loretta Weinberg was 79 when she blew open Bridgegate as New Jersey Senate Majority Leader. Powerful enough to be a target, old enough that nobody saw her coming. Her daughter directed this film. Won Best Documentary at the Teaneck International Film Festival. Official selection at Montclair.
