ETs Among Us 8: Top Secret: ET Abductions, Mutilations & Beyond is the latest entry in the long-running documentary series directed by Cybela Clare, built around two central voices: Nick Pope, who spent years inside the UK’s Ministry of Defence, and Linda Moulton Howe, who has spent decades collecting firsthand accounts from abductees.

Why the Reagan briefing

The series covers government concealment. This episode made the briefing its spine. From there, Clare expands outward. “With President Reagan’s briefing as the centerpiece, we were able to expand upon each section of the briefing with Nick Pope’s unique insights and Linda Moulton Howe’s witness testimonies.” The organizational choice matters. Rather than scatter across decades of material, everything radiates from one document.

Two voices, different angles

Pope’s experience is institutional. He worked for the government and brings a professional frame to the phenomenon, thinking about it in terms of threats versus opportunities rather than belief or disbelief. Howe is different. She has been an advocate for abductees for years, gathering first-person accounts from people who couldn’t get heard. Together they cover the same ground from opposite ends.

Why now

Clare is direct about the timing. “With the amount of material being released recently from our own government and whistleblowers, it felt like the time was right.” The film was in development as the public record was shifting. Just before release, the New York Post published an account from a former government researcher confirming details about the alien species count. “More of our documentary subjects are becoming vindicated in their life’s work on this topic” with every passing year.

Cattle mutilations

The cases keep coming. No satisfying conventional explanation for the majority of them, and that’s exactly why they won’t go away. “Because after all of these years, there has yet to be a rational explanation for the overwhelming majority of cases,” Clare says. Strange physical precision, no evidence at the sites. She sees the continuing fascination as completely logical.

Beyond the cover-up

The series has always tried to vindicate people who were ridiculed. This episode goes further. Clare says the two experts don’t just describe what happened. They also analyze what the ETs might have wanted, why governments covered it up, and what disclosure could look like going forward. That’s the “beyond” in the title.
